1. The restaurant uses Scoober delivery services and the customer orders food to be delivered asap
Restaurants should accurately manage the expectations about delivery times, so the customer doesn't get disappointed. You can do this through 2 settings, which can be found in the Deliverect portal under Locations -> Channel links -> TakeAway
Right now there are 2 settings:
- Default Preparation Time
- Average Delivery Time
The values you add in these settings will both be applied to the order once it is created. This means that when the customer receives their order confirmation from Takeaway/Thuisbezorgd, they'll also see the estimated time of arrival. The latter is calculated in the following way: ORDER CREATION TIME + DEFAULT PREPARATION TIME + AVERAGE DELIVERY TIME.
Example:
The customer orders food at 12pm (noon) and wants their food delivered asap.
The default Deliverect settings are:
- Default Preparation Time: 15min
- Average Delivery Time: 15min
What is shown on the POS ticket?
The POS kitchen ticket will show:
- Order creation time: 12pm
- Pick-up time: 12pm order creation time + 15min default preparation time = 12:15
- In the note, it is stated that the customer wants the order asap.
What time does the customer see?
The Delivery time that the restaurant sends to the customer is the sum of the Order Creation Time, the Default Preparation Time, and the Average Delivery Time.
So, in this case, the Delivery time that the customer will see is: 12pm order creation + 15min preparation time + 15min delivery time = 12:30
Note that Deliverect cannot guarantee that the TakeAway rider will be there at 12:15. The real-time rider times are not yet shared with Deliverect through the TakeAway API. Therefore, Deliverect cannot display and share them with the restaurants. Unfortunately, that means the restaurants often don't know when the riders will actually pick up the food.
If the restaurant wants the default preparation time to be shorter, they can reach out to Deliverect, as we can adjust this to any time that suits you. If a restaurant is on the fast lane, we can set the preparation time to 1 min, for instance.
This 15-minute delivery time is based on averages. However, if the restaurant would like to change the value, they can also reach out to the Deliverect team.
Note that Deliverect does not show any rider time updates on the POS. Deliverect can only display rider time updates in the Deliverect application. If you wish to use the application on the side, all you need is an iPad (version iOS 11+), a compatible printer and an internet connection. Next, you contact your Deliverect account manager, who can enable the application for you.
2. The restaurant uses their own delivery services and the customer orders food to be delivered asap
If the restaurant uses its own Delivery Services, the situation is slightly different.
Restaurants can still manage expectations about delivery times (see above).
However, when the customer orders food to be delivered asap, the delivery time will be shown on the ticket from the POS. This is the order creation date + default preparation time + average delivery time.
Example:
The default Deliverect settings are:
- Default Preparation Time: 15min
- Average Delivery Time: 15min
